Mausam director Pankaj Kapur and female lead Sonam Kapoor didn't see each other eye to eye. But recently the duo buried the hatchet and gave each other a warm hug, all thanks to Shahid Kapoor.

Pankaj gave Sonam a big hug and was heard praising her as well. TheAisha star turned up for the party even though she was exhausted. "It was a surprise party. Sonam, too, decided to let bygone be bygones and came at the time mentioned. She had shot the whole day for Mausam and not slept the night before as she rushed to wrap the shoot. People close to Pankaj were heard remarking on how well the girl's parents had brought her up," added the source.

Sonakshi Sinha may be the flavour of this season given the fact that her debut film is still plucking awards here and there, but there is a parallel debate going on about this DABANGG girl and that has to do with the kind of roles that she has chosen to play.

Increasingly many industry insiders are tracing parallels between Sonakshi Sinha andVidya Balan. Though the two actresses might actually belong to different generations, but it seems they have a lot in common.

Adds our source, "The reason for drawing comparisons between Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha have their own logic. Firstly, like Vidya, Sonakshi is trying to project an image of the earthly heroine. Not only that, both Vidya and Sonakshi are reluctant to expose their bodies beyond a certain point. While, Vidya might have changed her ideas now given the fact that her upcoming film THE DIRTY PICTURE will have lot of skin show, Sonakshi for the moment seems to be overlooking this fact." 

No one can deny that bollywood actresses who have tried to play safe have ended up paying big time and even changing their stand later, Sonakshi Sinha seems to be making the same mistake. Adds a bollywood veteran, "Vidya Balan has come a long way. Now, she has no issues with exposing her body. I think it dawned on her late that bollywood actresses with little sex-quotient don't make up for popular icons. Now, she is trying to go for an image makeover with THE DIRTY PICTURE."

Now, the onus is on Sonakshi to take a few tips from Vidya. Her ban on bikinis and exposing her body is not a success formula that worked with her apparent inspiration Vidya Balan, so most likely it won't work for her too

Ishqiya' was a brilliant film, said Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. She even congratulated Vishal Bhardwaj and his wife Rekha for winning national awards for the film .

"I am very proud of Vishalji and Rekha ma'am. 'Ishqiya' was a brilliant film. So congratulations to them," Piggi Chops said.

The actress has worked with filmmaker-composer-singer Vishal Bhardwaj in "Kaminey" and "7 Khoon Maaf".

"I had a good fortune of working with Vishal sir. He is very talented as a music director, director and as a singer," the actress added.

Bhardwaj won the best music director award for the film ‘Tshqiya’ and his wife Rekha was named the best female playback singer for the song "Badi dheere" in the movie at the 58th National Awards which were announced in New Delhi on Thursday.

‘Ishqiya’ was produced by Bhardwaj and was the directorial debut of Abhishek Chaubey. The music of the film was also composed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

It was a rural drama and the lead roles were performed by Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan.

Sonam Kapoor is busy prepping for her much awaited stint on the French Riviera and fellow Bollywood beauty and Deepika Padukone has wished her luck for the walk down the Cannes red carpet.

Padukone herself had grabbed headlines for her sari-clad appearance at Cannes last year and hopes that Sonam Kapoor too has a good time while at the festival, which is attended by film stars from across the world.

"I wish her all the best. I walked down the Cannes last year and it is a beautiful feeling," said Padukone who was in the city for the launch of Audi A7.

The 26-year-old, along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Freida Pinto, is attending the film festival as a spokesperson of cosmetics giant L'Oreal.

The last time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor were to walk the Cannes red carpet together it had resulted in a much publicised "catfight".

In 2009, just days after Sonam Kapoor announced that she will be attending the French film festival, L'Oreal had announced otherwise.

It was reported that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the force behind the decision and Sonam Kapoor had retaliated by calling the Bachchan bahu "aunty" in public.

But all is well now and the Sonam, will walk the prestigious red carpet on May 15.

"It has always been my dream to walk the red carpet at Cannes. I look forward to meeting actors and filmmakers from the world over and attending screenings of some interesting films," said the daughter of 'Slumdog Millionaire' star Anil Kapoor.

Her friend Deepika Padukone had won plaudits for her appearance on the Cannes red carpet in a Rohit Bal sari and many comparisons were made with the 37-year-old Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who always wears gowns by international designers for her French outing.

Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone became best of friends after they appeared on the talk show 'Koffee with Karan' where they famously ganged up on Padukone's ex-boyfriend and Kapoor's childhood friend, Ranbir Kapoor.

Saif Ali Khan, Sonam Kapoor walked the red carpet of Cannes for the first time. Promoting his film, ‘Aarakshan’ at Cannes, Saif said that making an appearances at Cannes is a honor but representing individually is fruitless. Taking a dig at the Bachchan bahurani Ash, the chotte nawab said that Ash has been a common face of Cannes because she is a pretty face.

“I feel that, generally speaking, we make different kinds of films, there are commercial movies and there are also a lot of filmmakers who make arty movies and they should be competing here,” Saif quoted as saying.

He thinks Cannes is a global platform to exchange and share ideas.

“In my opinion, the ideal reason for going to Cannes would be to showcase a movie, but you can rent space also. The best way to be here is to have a film competing in the festival. According to me these international film festivals are about different members and stars from various countries getting together,” Saif said

In DABANGG Sonakshi Sinha had a very minor role with the film turning out to be an all-Salman show. Now in her next film JOKER, while Akshay Kumar is the lead protagonist and an alien/UFO element is being termed as a major attraction already, one wonder whether the young woman would have a bigger platform to enjoy this time around at the least.

"Yes definitely, in JOKER she is there right through the film with Akshay,", assures Shirish Kunder, the film's director, "She has a well etched out part and the best part is that both she as well I are very enthusiastic about making the best use of the platform made available as this is our second film each. I would personally like to work more with someone like her who is younger and is just starting off as it brings us both in the same space

You have to tell Sonakshi just once about what you want and she does it just perfectly well. You don't have to explain things much to her. This reflects not just in her act but also the dialogue delivery as she brings in punctuations at just the right place in the right way."

No matter what her detractors may say, actress Priyanka Chopra denies that she is got over friendly with rival actor Kareena Kapoor’s boyfriend, actor Saif Ali Khan.

The closeness between Khan and Chopra had become a matter of speculation, after both Kapoor and Chopra gave open hints that they were less than cordial with each other on a chat show, a few months back.

On the show, Kapoor questioned where Chopra got her foreign accent and PC later retorted that she got the accent from the same place her boyfriend had got it.

So, naturally when the news leaked that Chopra was trying to become ‘over-friendly’ with Khan on the sets of Agent Vinod, it apparently angered everybody, right from Kapoor to Chopra.

C has now gone on record as she clarified on the sidelines of a city based event that her meeting with Khan was strictly a casual one and that she never acted in an over friendly manner with him. 
“It was a casual meeting, nothing else. Now please don’t link me up with him (Saif) at least,” Chopra said adding that she didn’t discuss anything but work during that meeting.

When questioned if Kapoor had any problems with the meeting, Chopra said that she didn’t have any information about it quickly adding, “No one has any problem with it.”

Chopra however insists that her favourite co-stars remain unchanged: they are Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan. “Hrithik and Shah Rukh are my favourite co-stars and I am lucky to work with both of them this year,” Priyanka said.
